It is quite pricey...and probably going to stop me from buying one (unless I find some online bargain.) However, I do not think it is a "bad" move from Sony, people were told and had to expect the price that they see now.
As well, a Blu-ray player does cost more than the PS3 so technically, one could buy it simply for that (granted that blu-ray's popularity haven't quite kicked up yet) |

It will basically be a media center BD, DVD, CD. Comes with a HDD and gigabittransfer software on them. HDMI output(only for upscale version). Its region free and acts as a locationfree server for the PSP. Not bad for the price I think.

Well with all those capabilities, it almost equals a computer just minus of ever running any microsoft software. LOL. It's just a mini mac or mircosoft origami. Just Sony's version.
And I like the sleek design of the system as well. It's only $500 USD. Not far off of what the PSP's were first selling for. In fact with all the PSP accessories it pretty much comes close to the same $$ amount as the PS3. |

While it sounds content rich for the price. It will deter me from picking it up for some time. We bought a new PS2 when it first came out, gave us nothing but fits. I'd just hate to spend that much money and have it die out on me or something. Very sleek design, just too much for my blood |

| I'll still be getting the 60gb version on the release day. I expected it would be high. Everyone did. Even at that price, I imagine Sony are making a loss. |

| Yes the PS3 (like nearly every other console at launch date) is being sold at lost; I've heard anything from $50 to $150 per console...which is very big; but the money would be regained by all the peripherals or games. |

Well at least, once a modchip is made for the PS3 (which will most likely happen.) anyone still wishing to play pirated game will still have to buy the eluded mysterious and practically non-existant "Blu-ray writer" |

500-600? Wow, this is where I get off the train. I'm having enough trouble trying to pay for a used base PSP system. I'm afraid the PS3 will just end up passing me by.
I don't especially need it though. Things are working out with my girlfriend and I'm traveling around the city a lot. I don't have much time for anything but a handheld.
...Except I might have to get it in the future. She's a huge gaming fan. *grin* |

| Oh yes they exist...but I was more thinking alongside the price it costs for one plus all of the blank disks. Normally, one will use pirated games to save money, and although you can save money, it's simply not profitable right now. But like CDs and DVDS, I would expect that it will be more interesting in a year or two. |

| the 1x-2x burners are about $500 and the BD will be about $20 each disk. Remember though DVDs were just as pricy befor and befor that CDs an burners were also expensive. As technology ages the price deflates. |
